At what age should I start bringing my child to the dentist?

The Australian Dental Association (ADA) recommends children have their teeth checked as soon as they have teeth. In practice this is often very difficult as very young children cannot sit still long enough for a proper check up to be completed.

At Abbotsford Dental we advise a first proper check up at age 3, with parents welcome to bring their children in younger than that just for a ride on the chair and to familiarise them with the dentist.

How often should I go to the dentist?

The Australian Dental Association (ADA) recommends 6 monthly check up and cleans. This is in order to detect problems early and maintain the teeth and gums in a healthy state.

How much will my visit cost?

Many people avoid the dentist due to the often high cost associated with dental treatment. At Abbotsford Dental, we understand that dental treatments can be expensive which is why we offer all our services at a fair price.

Although each treatment option has a different expense, a routine check up and clean will typically cost $259. If you have private health insurance with extras, most or all of this cost is claimable.

Are payment plans available for my dental treatment?

Yes. For select patient meeting certain criteria dental finance or in house payment plans are offered.

Do you accept private health insurance?

Yes. Abbotsford Dental has a HICAPS machine to allow you to claim on the spot from your private health insurance provider.
